How is Roha made.
Roha is a sustainable product that is made the ecological way in a completely vertical setup, which means the wastage of water is zero percent, through ZLD. Zero-liquid discharge (ZLD) is a water treatment process in which all the wastewater is purified and recycled; therefore, leaving zero discharge at the end of the treatment cycle. Some of the processes used in the factory during production are patented technologies and ensure that the environment is taken of. The factory comes under the norms of pollution control and other safety codes.
Once the unit was set up, her fabrics ready and ideas conceived, Pavithra decided it needed a community just as meaningful to run the production, giving rise to the next step. A community of refugees at camps, hand embroider the Roha products; and this gives them a chance to earn something of their own – an initiative started by Pavithra to lend to the compassionate nature of the products.
Combining modern technology, keen expertise and a whole lot of heart, Singh has been able to introduce exclusive high-end fabrics such as pima, cotton, modal and milk fabric – some of the best in the country, which were conventionally not used for cuts like that of Roha. This has allowed for Roha garments to be designed exceptionally in Western and Indo Western styles, with a standard of work that is brilliant.
About the creator
An achiever with a fondness for the term learning never stops, Pavithra moved from Mysore to the U.S. to complete her MBA in International Business, where an internship with a premium banking institution opened up more opportunities leading her to join the famed Wells Fargo. Seeking to expand her knowledge in the subject she enjoyed, Pavithra then joined the certified Entrepreneurship Programme from Harvard University and things took a turn for the greater good landing her a reputed post at Jet Blue.
As life rolled on; a supportive husband and three beautiful children came along but Pavithra never let go of her belief in learning as you grow and it was in the pursuit to uncover her hidden talents that she realised her flair for designing and it was straight to the drawing board. Thus was born Roha. The two key elements of creating the brand, were her nature to explore and the want to contribute something valuable to people.
Pavithra considers her rollercoaster life the reason behind her successes including establishing two major companies. Today, in just a few short years, her firm Panache Exports has two factories- one Tripura and the other in Tamilnadu.
